Like buses as us Brits like to say. Following yesterday’s surprising news regarding Oscar-winning actor Michael Douglas joining the cast of the Marvel Phase III opener, ANT-MAN, we’ve another familiar face set to join the superhero film being directed by Edgar Wright. END OF WATCH and GANGSTER SQUAD’s Michael Pena, who can currently be seen in a small role in David O. Russell’s AMERICAN HUSTLE, is in early talks for an unknown role.
Shooting on the comic-book pic is set for early April with natural comic Paul Rudd taking the lead as the tiny title character, Scott Lang, who manages to keep his normal physical attributes despite being the size of… well… an ant. Douglas is playing his mentor, scientist Henry ‘Hank’ Pym, the man responsible for the invention of the shrinking technology.
Pena’s character is being described as a “tough Latino”, with Marvel reportedly settling on him after looking at both Javier Bardem to Clifton Collins Jr. He’ll next be seen reuniting with director David Ayer in actioner FURY.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
