Max Landis To Script ‘Houdini’ Feature

Max Landis Image 2The life of escapologist and magical legend Harry Houdini, has been slated for a cinematic adaptation for quite some time now. The feature was originally scripted by Scott Frank and set to be directed by Francis Lawrence (THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE). Now, CHRONICLE writer, Max Landis, will rework the script and a director is yet to be announced. Word also suggests that Landis’ approach will be influenced by the works/include mentions of the work of H.P. Lovecraft, who collaborated with Houdini later in the illusionist’s life.

Landis next upcoming project will be his scripted version of FRANKENSTEIN which stars Daniel Radcliffe and James McAvoy. Like HOUDINI that film is also produced by Sony, so it looks as though Landis has struck up a valuable friendship. Like with so many films, this isn’t the only Houdini biopic in the pipeline, with Summit also producing a version of Houdini’s life, this time based on the book The Secret Life Of Houdini: America’s First Superhero
