FX Confirm ‘Justified’ Will End With Season 6

Today is a sad day. It appears the adventures of Raylan Givens are almost at an end. FX president and general manager John Landgraf has confirmed the acclaimed series JUSTIFIED, based on the short story ‘Fire In The Hole’ by late author Elmore Leonard, will conclude with a sixth season. Landgraf claims the decision was made by showrunner Graham Yost and his brilliant lead actor Timothy Olyphant some time ago and reluctantly had to agree.

“We talked about it a year ago and they felt that the arc of the show and what they had to say would be served by six seasons instead of seven and I regretfully accepted their decision,”

Season 5 has only just began with a superb and shocking bang in the US, with the second episode due tonight. As disappointing as the news is, at least Yost and his likeable lead are not willing to outstay their welcome like so many other shows. However, it’s going to be difficult to come to terms with no longer having the cocksure Deputy sheriff and the rogues of Harlan County on the television when the time arrives. Thank the lord for DVD box sets.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
