‘The Newsroom’ Renewed For Third And Final Season!

The-Newsroom

The news of the return of The Newsroom is, in large, bittersweet as fans of the show, myself included, have long been waiting for the announcement of future seasons and today, we got what we wanted, but at a cost. To our dismay, HBO has confirmed that this will be the final season of the media-heavy drama, one of three shows that will be coming to a close on the network this year, alongside True Blood and Boardwalk Empire.

The Jeff Daniels show has been both admired and criticised for the work that creator, Aaron Sorkin, has done, which may also be considered to be among that of his finest. Joining Sorkin and fellow producer Scott Rudin for the third season is The Office show runner and actor Paul Lieberstein as an executive producer.

For those that aren’t familiar with the show, the series follows a fictional newsroom from behind-the-scenes and it’s coverage of real-world significant and often geo-political events. When we look back at 2013, it’s safe to say that there will be plenty of material for the show to adapt. We can expect the beloved cast to return, including the likes of Emily Mortimer and Sam Waterston, as they were locked into new contracts last September. Here’s to the New Year and a new series, may it be its best yet.
