Another significant step forward in the production of Universal Pictures’ much-anticiapted prehistoric sequel JURASSIC WORLD as the date has been confirmed to begin filming. The project is another major blockbuster heading to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, along with Alan Taylor’s TERMINATOR: GENESIS and Josh Trank’s FANTASTIC FOUR reboot (more on the latter here). Colin Trevorrow is the man tasked with breathing new life into the franchise based on Michael Crichton’s original novel and spearheaded by Steven Spielberg. Shooting commences on 31st March!
In addition, those rumours of Marvel’s new golden boy Chris Pratt being involved in the main cast appear to have been confirmed by filmmaker Ron Howard. The Oscar-winning director’s daughter, Bryce Dallas Howard, had previously been confirmed as the female lead, alongside Nick Robinson and Ty Simpkins. He tweeted the following image and message perhaps unaware the studio have yet to confirm any talks with naturally gifted funny man.

JURASSIC WORLD will be released on 12th June 2015. We await details of those other rumoured talents involvement like Jake Johnson, Jason Schwarzmann, David Oyelowo, Edris Elba and Irrfan Khan.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
