Tarantino Targeting Two For ‘The Hateful Eight’

article-tarantino3-0104-web

With writer/director Quentin Tarantino suggesting only months ago that his next project which will see him return to the “wild west” for another revisionist history lesson, some early details are beginning to take shape.

First of all, his current working title for the project is said to be the cool-as-hell sounding THE HATEFUL EIGHT, which perhaps hints at something akin to Sam Peckinpah’s ultra-violent classic THE WILD BUNCH. With his most recent film, DJANGO UNCHAINED, seeing him reunite with his INGLORIOUS BASTERDS Oscar-winner Christoph Waltz for another Academy Award-winning performance, it’s no surprise he’s looking for hook with the Austrian actor for a third time.

Apparently, Waltz is one of two actors being offered an early look at the screenplay with an opportunity to take one of the main roles. The other is another DJANGO alumni. Veteran character actor Bruce Dern, who is currently giving an outstanding performance in Alexander Payne’s NEBRASKA and is expected to feature in this years lead actor Oscar race, has been offered a more pivotal part than his last get-together with the fast-talking filmmaker. Again, little is known of the plot but you can almost guarantee it will involve graphic violence, snappy quotable dialogue and a hell of a lot of controversy!

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
