Season three hasn’t even aired yet, but it has been confirmed that HBO have renewed GIRLS for a fourth season, and will start filming in Spring.
The show, which stars Lena Dunham, Allison Williams, Jemima Kirke and Zosia Mamet, has been going from strength to strength since its debut in 2012. It is quite clear that HBO has some faith in the show now, its upcoming third season was renewed two episodes into season two.
Meanwhile the cast and crew of GIRLS held a panel at the Television Critics Association, where some tidbits were revealed in the upcoming third season. Dunham revealed that the first episode will see Jessa (Kirke) exploring her own sexuality.
But things at the panel got incredibly awkward after a while when the critics kept on bringing up the show’s nudity (which executive producer Jenni Konner said would send her into a “rage spiral…and rightly so!). Judd Apatow, another executive producer on the show, was also quick to defend the show, saying:
“These aren’t that weird mistakes… It’s not really that shocking.”
Dunham then went on to add:
“You seem to like Walter White.”
Burn.
GIRLS returns to Sky Atlantic January 20th.
