Stunning British actress Kate Beckinsale leaves the latex and lycra of UNDERWORLD’s Selene at home to take a more serious role in writer/director Karen Moncrieff’s tense courtroom thriller, THE TRIALS OF CATE McCALL. She plays a former hotshot lawyer who is attempting to overcome personal troubles having been in recovery and currently on probation. In order to be reinstated to the bar and recover custody of her daughter, she must take on the appeal of a young woman wrongfully convicted of murder.
The solid cast includes James Cromwell, Clancy Brown, Isaiah Washington, Dale Dickey, Mark Pellegrino, David Lyons, Anna Anissimova, Brendan Sexton III, Dave Vescio, Taye Diggs and Nick Nolte. There are no UK or US release dates as yet but we have the first international trailer and posters.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
