More new footage from director Jose Padilha’s ROBOCOP can be witnessed in these new television spots from the forthcoming Sony Pictures reboot.
The future of law-enformance gets an overhaul of sorts and despite the familiar ‘cop in a metallic suit’ concept we know so well in Paul Verhoeven’s 1987 futuristic sci-fi classic, we’ve been promised that the tale of Detroit police officer Alex Murphy will have underlying messages and social commentary about the current state of modern warfare. Joel Kinnaman takes the lead as the unlucky soul who finds himself brought back from the dead by the scientists employed at OminiCorp – but at what cost to his family and mental state!
ROBOCOP co-stars Abbie Cornish, Samuel. L. Jackson, Michael Keaton, Jay Baruchel, Jackie Earl Haley, Jennifer Ehle, Michael Kenneth Williams and Gary Oldman. It hits cinemas 7th February.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
