Always a fantastic actor the watch, Oscar-winner Benicio Del Toro leads true-story JIMMY P as a Native American soldier using the alias Jimmy Picard following a traumatic stint World War II. Arriving back in the US and troubled by mental psychosomatic illness, his character is given to opportunity to work with experimental French doctor Georges Devereux (played by the brilliant Mathieu Amalric) with the duo forming a bond of friendship amidst their professional medical relationship.
JIMMY P is directed by Arnaud Desplechin and premiered at the Cannes Film Festival earlier last year before being picked up by IFC Films. It’s set to hit limited US cinemas on the 14th February. No word yet on a UK release but check out the first trailer below. Gina McKee, Joseph Cross, Michelle Thrush and Larry Pine co-star.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
