‘Gravity’ & ‘Saving Mr Banks’ Up For Producers Guild Award 2013

Now that the Christmas port has been shoved to the back of the cupboard to fester for another year, it can only mean one thing: award season is upon us again.

Ahead of the Oscar nominations on 16th January, the Producers Guild of America has revealed its film nominees, and THN favourites GRAVITY and SAVING MR BANKS are among them.

Hollywood will be looking closely at the nominated films as they can give us a hint about how the Academy Awards will turn out. The previous six winners of the PGA Best Picture (NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN, SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE, THE HURT LOCKER, THE KING’S SPEECH, THE ARTIST, ARGO) went on to win the Oscar for Best Picture, so this ceremony is certainly worth keeping an eye on.

With this in mind, perhaps the snubbing of previous winners the Coen brothers’ INSIDE LLEWYN DAVIS is a bit of a surprise, as is the exclusion of critics’ favourite PHILOMENA.

We’ll get to find out the winners on 19th January, when we’ll also find out who’s won in the television categories. Breaking Bad, Downton Abbey, Game of Thrones, Big Bang Theory and 30 Rock are all nominated.

The full list of film nominees in alphabetical order is listed below, including those for Best Animated Feature.
