Paramount Pictures are spoiling us with an action-packed four-minute clip from their reboot JACK RYAN: SHADOW RECRUIT. Tom Clancy’s literary hero gets a origin story which is set prior to any of the author’s best-selling spy novels and one that will show us just how the skilled CIA analyst, this time portrayed by rising STAR TREK actor Chris Pine, was recruited into the US government.
British thespian Kenneth Branagh is both behind the camera directing his first Hollywood effort since the mighty THOR, as well as portraying the Russian villain framing his undercover employer as the mastermind behind a financial terrorist plot designed to collapse the US economy.
We’ve included a couple of character posters featuring co-stars Kevin Costner and Keira Knightly. Expect another couple to feature Branagh and Pine in the coming days.
JACK RYAN: SHADOW RECRUIT co-stars Colm Feore, Nonso Anozie, David Paymer and Peter Andersson. It’s slated for the US on the 17th January and the UK 31st January.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
