With the New Year of 2014 now in full swing, we have brand new featurette looking at the Brazilian capital’s stunning spectacle in lighting up the nation with a little help from a returning blue macaw, appropriately named Blu! Yes, Blue Sky Studios’ colourfully animated sequel RIO 2 will reunite the entire cast of the original smash hit RIO, alongside a new flock of voice talent and top-selling musicians and a few of them were on hand to help in the celebration.
This time around, we find Jewel (Anne Hathaway), Blu (Jesse Eisenberg) and their three kids leaving their domesticated life in that magical city of the title for a journey of a lifetime to the Amazon. They encounter a menagerie of characters who are born to be wild, voiced by Oscar nominee Andy Garcia, Oscar/Emmy/Tony-winner Rita Moreno, Grammy winner Bruno Mars, and Tony winner Kristin Chenoweth.
RIO 2 also features the voices of Will.I.Am, Jemaine Clement, Tracy Morgan, George Lopez, Leslie Mann, Rodrigo Santoro and Jamie Foxx in the film flying in to cinemas US 11th April 2014 and the UK a little earlier on the 4th April. Director Carlos Saldanha is also back at the helm.
Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
