Phoenix Film Critics Society Award Winners

Print

Another regional awards ceremony, another technical sweep for Alfonso Cuaron’s GRAVITY. Opting for Matthew McConaughey over current frontrunner Chiwetel Ejiofor, the PFCS’ other acting choices are pretty straightforward, but it’s their decision to honour the overlooked films of the year and best performances by younger actors (yay, Tye Sheridan!) that make their awards a little more interesting. Elsewhere things are rather unexciting – though NEBRASKA gets a Best Screenplay win – but it sure is good to see SHORT TERM 12 popping up alongside the big dogs in these societies’ top ten lists.
