The Parisian-set period film, written and directed by Charlie Stratton, centres on a beautiful young women trapped in a loveless marriage, who embarks on an affair with the childhood pal of her husband. Set in the lower echelons of 1860s Paris, Therese Raquin, a sexually repressed beautiful young woman, is trapped into a loveless marriage to her sickly cousin, Camille, by her domineering aunt, Madame Raquin. Therese spends her days confined behind the counter of a small shop and her evenings watching Madame play dominoes with an eclectic group. After she meets her husband’s alluring friend, Laurent, she embarks on an illicit affair that leads to tragic consequences.
As you can see from this first poster, the film also stars Jessica Lange and Tom Felton. It’s set for US cinemas 21st February 2014. No details yet on a UK release. You can find the first trailer HERE.
