Hollywood veteran actress Jessica Lange has joined the cast of the planned remake of THE GAMBLER. I personally cannot remember anything about the original and can’t claim to know much about the planned remake, other than the fact that Mark Wahlberg has already been cast in the role that James Caan played in the 1974 movie.
Rupert Wyatt (RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES) is directing the new version, which will revolve around an English professor with a gambling addiction, who falls into debt with the mob for a ton of cash ($40,000 in the original).
Brie Larson and Leland Orser also star in the remake which has a screenplay written by William Monahan (THE DEPARTED).
Paramount Pictures will distribute the film which is currently awaiting a release date.
Jessica Lange can currently be seen in the TV series American Horror Story. Her film credits include TOOTSIE, the 1976 KING KONG remake, BIG FISH and Martin Scorsese’s CAPE FEAR.

I love Jessica Lange’s work and they are saying that Oldman is perhaps in talks to appear in the film with her. Please let that come true!
