‘Despicable Me 2’ Makes $80 Million Through Home Release

It seems as if no one can stop the Minions from conquering the world as DESPICABLE ME 2 continues to impress and break records worldwide. The film has already made over $900 Million worldwide to become the second highest grossing film of 2013 and is also the UK’s most lucrative release this year soaring past the likes of IRON MAN 3 and MAN OF STEEL.

Now it’s been revealed that DESPICABLE ME 2 has made over $80 Million in North America from both digital and DVD/Blu-ray home entertainment releases in just one week. The Minion-mad film has sold four and a half Million units which is the biggest animated home entertainment premiere since the original film was released in 2010. On top of that DESPICABLE ME 2 has also sold more copies than any other animated  Blu-ray within its first week of release in history. Wow well this will definitely bode well for the upcoming MINIONS spin-off film set for next year as well as the inevitable third film in the series. Universal are clearly very happy with the incredible year they have had thanks to DESPICABLE ME 2 and FAST & FURIOUS 7. Here is a statement from Universal Home Entertainment president Craig Kornblau on the success of the fun-filled animated film:
