The Detroit Film Critics Society nominations were an interesting, and let’s face it, inspired mix. For all the Chiwetel Ejiofors, Meryl Streeps and Tom Hanks action, there was also a healthy batch of Stanley Tuccis, James Francos and Brie Larsons to feast on. As for the latter, well, it was definitely her night after taking home Best Actress and Breakthrough for her role in Destin Cretton’s SHORT TERM 12.
AMERICAN HUSTLE and SHORT TERM 12 led the nominations with five apiece, but the former only triumphed in the Best Ensemble category. Elsewhere, Scarlett Johansson was yet again rewarded for her vocal work in the DFCS’ Best Picture winner, HER, and Matthew McConaughey walked away with one of his two nominations.
