The ’47 Ronin’ Unleashed In Latest Featurette

Universal Pictures’ epic martial-arts actioner may have opened disappointingly over in Japan but big things are still expected from the film led by Keanu Reeves. The film tells of the mythic band of leaderless warriors as they attempt to defend their home against the mythical creatures now enslaving their beloved lands and loved ones. Carl Rinsch directs the visually spectacular blockbuster thought to have a budget close to $250 million!

Keanu Reeves makes an explosive return to action-adventure in 47 Ronin. After a treacherous warlord kills their master and banishes their kind, 47 leaderless samurai vow to seek vengeance and restore honor to their people. Driven from their homes and dispersed across the land, this band of Ronin must seek the help of Kai (Reeves)—a half-breed they once rejected—as they fight their way across a savage world of mythic beasts, shape-shifting witchcraft and wondrous terrors. As this exiled, enslaved outcast becomes their most deadly weapon, he will transform into the hero who inspires this band of outnumbered rebels to seize eternity.

Feast on this latest featurette from the long-delayed project that is rumoured to have removed the director from post-production.

47 RONIN comes from a screenplay written by Chris Morgan and Hossein Amini. It hits theatres in the US 25th December and the UK Boxing Day.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
