The Godfather: Part II Returns To UK Cinemas With 4K Restoration

Believe it or not but it’s actually been 40 years since its original release and now THE GODFATHER: PART II is set to return to UK cinemas in 2014, with a new 4K restoration previously unseen over here. Due to open at the BFI Southbank on 21st February, as part of a wider Al Pacino retrospective, this classic by Francis Ford Coppola isundoubtedly one of the finest examples of Pacino’s work.

The film is also widely regarded as the greatest sequel ever made (the first time a sequel won Best Picture at the 1974 Oscars), THE GODFATHER: PART II is the beating heart of the Corleone’s cinematic family album; a genre classic that connects the past, present and future of the notorious gangster clan.
Ranging over multiple locations, Coppola’s film ambitiously intertwines two time periods: the story of Michael Corleone (Al Pacino) becoming increasingly consumed and isolated by his new power as head of the family, and flashbacks to his father Vito Corleone’s (Robert De Niro) arrival as an immigrant in New York, and his gradual ascent to power.
Restored by Paramount Pictures, THE GODFATHER: PART II is back in cinemas from 21 February 2014, opening at BFI Southbank and selected cinemas nationwide and THN will have to be there!
