Since replacing Terrance Howard as Tony Stark’s best pal Jim Rhodes in Marvel’s IRON MAN 2, the ever-likeable Don Cheadle has made the military man role his own in both sequels featuring the high-flying metallic superhero. Sadly, Cheadle wasn’t called into action during THE AVENGERS as they assembled during the ‘Battle Of New York”.

However, fans of ‘Rhodey’ (aka Iron Patriot and War Machine) may not have to wait for another IRON MAN adventure (if there is even one planned, as star Robert Downey Jr. is said to be considering his future) to see the wisecracking side-kick. Cheadle has confirmed he will reprise his role in Joss Whedon’s upcoming AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON. Saying he has:

“a part to film in the next Avengers movie,”

Cheadle joins the already onboard Downey, Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Cobie Smulders, Jeremy Renner, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, Samuel L. Jackson and James Spader in the ensemble sequel seeing the team taking on Spader’s sub-titled antagonist. Shooting begins in March for a release on the 1st May 2015.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
