Zack Snyder’s MAN OF STEEL accomplished its aim of reigniting the Superman franchise spectacularly when it was released earlier this June. Not only did it introduce the Last Son of Krypton to a whole new generation but it also re-told his origin story in a modern context, while performing extremely well at the box office and grossing almost $700 million worldwide.
Now its upcoming sequel BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN is constantly stealing the headlines with frequent casting rumours and character inclusions, including the bombshell Warner Bros. dropped when they announced that Gal Gadot will play Wonder Woman in the film. Now, Amy Adams, who is set to reprise her role as Lois Lane in the sequel, has been asked about her hopes for any potential interaction between her character and Wonder Woman in the film. Here is what she had to say regarding a potential love triangle between Kal-El, Lois Lane and Wonder Woman:
“Am I interested? I don’t know. I mean, we’ll see. I hope that I can be involved with a woman on screen where we’re not in a love triangle. That would be fun. Maybe where we team up together and we work as teammates instead of adversaries”.
It would certainly be interesting for the film to take a different direction from the predictable love triangle-route that many superhero films tend to go down. Adams’ feminist view on the matter makes sense and is actually coherent with her character as her take on Lois Lane broke away from the trend of the typical damsel-in-distress figure seen in many films of the same ilk.
