One of the classic Roman Polanski efforts from the last century is the superb ROSEMARY’S BABY, a film made in the 60s, based on a book by Ira Levin. Now it seems that American television network NBC are looking to adapt said book into a TV mini series. I hear you shriek at the mere though, but let’s not forget that NBC are responsible for last year’s groundbreaking series Hannibal, not to mention Grimm and their latest, Dracula, which stars Jonathan Rhys Meyers as the blood-sucker.
“Ira Levin’s mesmerizing book was a groundbreaking reflection on how effective and influential a psychological thriller could be,” said Quinn Taylor, executive vice-president movies, miniseries and international co-productions at NBC. “We’re looking forward to adapting his incredible work and bringing those indelible characters to a new generation of viewers.”
It has been 45 years since the Polanski movie, so we’re due an update. NBC will provide it with an four-hour opus with production kicking off in Paris in January. Scott Abbott (Introducing Dorothy Dandridge) and James Wong (American Horror Story) wrote the screenplay.
