CALVARY was recently confirmed to make its world premiere at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival. THE GUARD director John Michael McDonagh reunites with his brilliant lead Brendan Gleeson in this darkly comic story of a priest who finds himself threatened during a private confession and is unsure what to do or even take it serious.
I’m a huge fan of the Irish actor from everything from big blockbusters like BRAVEHEART and GANGS OF NEW YORK to indie gems THE GENERAL and I WENT DOWN. Of course, most will remember him for the HARRY POTTER franchise and the awesome IN BRUGES.
The superb supporting cast is filled with hilarious familiar faces with the likes of Chris O’Dowd and Dylan Moran lending their perfect dry Irish humour to the film also starring Kelly Reilly, Aidan Gillen and Marie-Josée Croz.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
