Late last week, we brought you the news that the mutant-filled -X-MEN franchise would continue past the upcoming time-travelling sequel X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. Another epic adventure is in the works with X-MEN: APOCALYPSE slated for summer 2016. While little was known of the plot, it was expected Bryan Singer would return to direct the film picking right after the events of his upcoming epic uniting the cast of the original X-MEN trilogy (and spinoff’s) with those of Matthew Vaughn’s FIRST CLASS.
Well, we can now officially confirm Singer will back at the helm and he will dive straight into shooting once press and promotional duties are complete on DOFP. However, it’s expected APOCALYPSE will focus primarily on the younger cast led by James McAvoy’s Professor Xavier and Michael Fassbender’s conflicted Erik Lensherr.
X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST hits cinemas 23rd May 2014 and X-MEN: APOCALYPSE will arrive 27th May 2016.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
