Watch: Live Stream For The European Premiere Of ‘The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug’

Finally, a full 12-months after a triumphant return to Middle-earth, Oscar-winning director Peter Jackson brings us back to Tolkein’s fantasy realm for sequel THE HOBBIT: THE DESOLATION OF SAMUG. The  unexpected adventure continues for title character Bilbo Baggins, as he again journeys with the Wizard Gandalf and thirteen Dwarves (led by their fearless warrior Thorin Oakenshield), on an epic quest to reclaim the Lonely Mountain and the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor.

This time around, they must encounter the likes of skin-changer Beorn, a swarm of giant Spiders in the treacherous forest of Mirkwood and most probably an ugly little cretin named Gollum, who is desperate to reclaim something himself (I wonder what that could be?). However, this time it’s all about a creature more terrifying than any other – fire-breathing dragon Smaug!

We have the official live stream for the European premiere of the epic middle-part of Jackson’s new trilogy.

THE HOBBIT: THE DESOLATION OF SMAUG stars Ian McKellen, Martin Freeman, Richard Armitage, Benedict Cumberbatch, Evangeline Lilly, Lee Pace, Luke Evans, Ken Stott, James Nesbitt, Orlando Bloom, John Bell, Manu Bennett, Jed Brophy, Adam Brown, John Callen, Ryan Gage, Mark Hadlow, Peter Hambleton, Stephen Hunter, William Kircher, Lawrence Makoare, Sylvester McCoy, Graham McTavish, Dean O’Gorman, Mikael Persbrandt and Aidan Turner. It’s released in cinemas from the 13th December.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
