Currently best known for her role in A&E’s contemporary take on PSYCHO – prequel series Bates Motel – British actress Olivia Cooke has signed on for more fear duty in former visual-effects specialist Stiles White’s directorial debut, OUIJA. She joins the already cast of rising newcomers Douglas Smith and Daren Kagasoff in the big-screen adaptation of the spooky Hasbro board game believed to allow us to contact the dead.
The film comes from a script by White and his frequent collaborator Juliet Snowden (THE POSSESSION) and follows the familiar trend of high school students investigating the death of a girl at their school, after she’d been using an Ouija board.
The project has moved back and forth between Universal and Paramount and has now settled at Universal, thanks to a collaboration between the iconic studio, Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes, Hasbro and Jason Blum’s Blumhouse Productions.
Cooke will next be seen in Hammer Films’ ghostly chiller THE QUIET ONES early next year.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
