DEAD SNOW was a delightfully twisted zombie film in which Nazis returned from the dead in order to wreak havoc and look for gold. The simple plot is now being expanded upon for its sequel, DEAD SNOW: RED VS. DEAD. Speaking with Shock Till You Drop, director Tommy Wirkola had this to say:
the first half [of DEAD SNOW] is a classical horror movie, the second half goes nuts. With DEAD SNOW 2, it starts right where the first film left off and is full throttle from beginning to end. Basically, the Nazi zombies decide to invade Northern Norway again, it’s just crazy.
With talk of a protagonist raising an army of his own, we’re assuming the “red” of the title has something to do with communism. Perhaps a zombie scrap between Stalin and Hitler.
DEAD SNOW: RED VS. DEAD is to premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, and has a 14th February release date in the US. It stars Vegar Hoel, Stig Frode Henriksen, Martin Starr, Ørjan Gamst, Monica Haas and Jocelyn DeBoer.
