There have been many films that have been heavy on the old special effects this year, and its always an interesting category come Oscar season. Ten films have been singled out to compete for the ‘Best Visual Effects’ gong at the 2014 Academy Awards, and they are:
Elysium
Gravity
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug
Iron Man 3
The Lone Ranger
Oblivion
Star Trek Into Darkness
Thor: The Dark World
Pacific Rim
World War Z
Those ten have been whittle down from a staggering 147 movies that qualified and those ten films will become five when the rest of the nominations are announced on the 16th January. The Academy Awards themselves will be dished out on Sunday 2nd March, 2014, and as always you can stick with THN for all of the latest awards news.
