Here’s your first look at director Will Gluck’s upcoming ANNIE remake which stars Jamie Foxx, Cameron Diaz, Quvenzhané Wallis and Rose Byrne. The below still comes fresh from the New York city shooting of the song ‘Tomorrow‘, which has been slightly adapted for contemporary audiences. In this modest re-imagining, Jamie Foxx will play the role of billionaire Daddy Warbucks who’s name has been changed for this production to the far more gangster title of Benjamin Stacks. Presumably because he stacks the Benjamin’s?
While running for mayor, Mr Stacks becomes the reluctant guardian of the familiarly named orphan Annie. Proof that NewYork’s orphanages need to be more creative when naming their children. The duo soon get over their mutual distain and grow to embrace each other in musical fashion. Rose Byrne will play the Secretary and love interest to Mr Stacks in keeping with the original plot with Diaz as in the infamous orphanage owner Miss Hannigan.
ANNIE is destined for cinemas on December 19th, 2014 and you can bet your bottom dollar that this remake-remake will rake in the box-office bucks.
