Frozen

Disney’s FROZEN has broken records at the US Box office becoming the biggest Thanksgiving opening of all-time and the largest opening ever for Walt Disney Animation Studios.  Disney’s stunning animated comedy adventure achieved a spectacular $67.2 for the three-day weekend and $93.5 for the five-day weekend snowballing past the previous Thanksgiving debut record set by TOT STORY 2 in 1999 ( $57.4M and $80.1M three-day/five-day records), and sledging ahead of Walt Disney Animation Studios previous biggest opener TANGLED ($68.7 over 5 days).

The Walt Disney Studios has now reached the $4 billion mark at the global box office for the first time in its history.

FROZEN, which is loosely based on Hans Christian Andersen’s classic fairy tale The Snow Queen, has received an overwhelmingly positive reaction from critics in UK and US:

This is the best Walt Disney Animation Studios movie in a generation’ – Den of Geek

‘Guaranteed to melt the coldest heart’ – The Guardian

‘Disney’s ‘Frozen’ is a magical 3-D winter wonderland.’– LA Times

‘Disney’s Best Animated Musical since ‘Beauty and the Beast’. –The Wrap

‘It’s great to see Disney returning to its roots and blooming anew’ – Time Magazine

In FROZEN, we focus on fearless optimist Anna (voice of Kristen Bell) sets off on an epic journey—teaming up with rugged mountain man Kristoff (voice of Jonathan Groff) and his loyal reindeer Sven—to find her sister Elsa (voice of Idina Menzel), whose icy powers have trapped the kingdom of Arendelle in eternal winter. Encountering Everest-like conditions, mystical trolls and a hilarious snowman named Olaf (voice of Josh Gad), Anna and Kristoff battle the elements in a race to save the kingdom.

The film is directed by Chris Buck (TARXAN) and Jennifer Lee (screenwriter, WRECK-IT RALPH), and produced by Peter Del Vecho (WINNIE THE POOH). Featuring music from Tony® winner Robert Lopez (THE BOOK OF MORMON) and Kristen Anderson-Lopez, FROZEN opens in the UK in 3D on 6th December.
