Paul W.S. Anderson, the director behind the RESIDENT EVIL franchise, may not be at the top of everyone’s favoruite list, but the man can produce some relatively fun blockbusters. He’s also responsible for the brilliant EVENT HORIZON, so let’s give him a chance. Starring Game Of Thrones‘ Kit Harrington, it follows a young slave turned gladiator who must save the woman he loves as all hell breaks loose after the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. It sounds very much like it could be TITANTIC with a volcanoe, which sounds pretty darn awesome to me. In these latest stills we get to see Harrington looking manly and Kiefer Sutherland looking absolutely fabulous. Sutherland also brings about some faith by mentioning the amount of practical effects and sets:
It’s been a long time since I did a movie this big in scope. There are amazing computer effects, but only a third of the set was green screen. The rest was huge props, big sets, elaborate costumes, which I love.
POMPEII is released 21st February 2014. It stars Kit Harrington, Kiefer Sutherland, Carrie-Anne Moss, Emily Browning, Jared Harris, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, and Paz Vega.
