BROTHERHOOD OF THE WOLF writer/director Christophe Gans is back behind the camera for the first time since his Hollywood debut with video game adaptation SILENT HILL. Here he’s helming a lavish French-language version of the iconic fairytale BEAUTY AND THE BEAST (or LA BELLE & LA BETE) with the intense ‘Beast’ Vincent Cassel (TRANCE) leading alongside ‘Beauty’ Léa Seydoux (BLUE IS THE WARMEST COLOUR).
The effect-heavy film is rumoured to have a huge budget of close to $50 million (which is astounding for French cinema) and is set for theatres in France from the 12th February 2014. No UK or US dates as yet.
Check out this first trailer, which sadly doesn’t come with English subtitles. Still, you get the gist!
Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
