Back in March, we reported on Mark Ruffalo’s desire for a Hulk standalone film, but how nothing was planned at that time. It seems however, that perhaps due to the success of IRON MAN 3 and THOR: THE DARK WORLD since, Marvel have reconsidered and Ruffalo will get his way after all.
In a recent interview for his upcoming film THE LIBERATOR, Lou Ferrigno talks about how he helped voice The Hulk in THE AVENGERS, in combination with Ruffalo and some other voices. He then goes on to insist that The Hulk will be getting his own film in this dazzling era of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which is to be expected after AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON.
Perhaps this news was not meant to reach our ears so prematurely, considering the journalist interviewing Ferrigno seems a little taken aback by his insistence. Does this mean that Marvel are becoming more and more comfortable with their on-screen ensemble that they feel they can successfully reboot the Hulk franchise as a single entity? If so, I’m calling it now, Banner and Stark will be science bros. With this new-found assumed confidence in their properties, perhaps Marvel will also be looking to cement the backgrounds of Hawkeye and Black Widow.
It does also ask the question what storylines could be explored, Planet Hulk? World War Hulk? Ony time will tell.
But, as much of a lovable giant as Lou Ferrigno is, take what he says with a pinch of salt. Nothing has yet been confirmed by the studios.
