One thing that gets me ever so excited is the announcement of a new Takashi Miike film. The prolific Japanese director has had 93 directorial credits to his name since 1991. Averaging at around 4 films per year, you’d think the man would have to substitute quality for quantity, but since his back catalogue includes classics such as ICHI THE KILLER, AUDITION, and the astonishing 13 ASSASSINS, that’s clearly not the case. He jumps from genre to genre, and consistently delivers.
Therefore, announcement of his latest project, AS GOD SAYS, is just as intriguing. Based on a serialised comic from Kodansha Comic Magazine, the film will focus on a group of teens forced to kill each other by unknown forces. It may sound very BATTLE ROYALE and THE HUNGER GAMES, but Miike will probably push the envelope in terms of taste. AS GOD SAYS is set for a 2014 release date.

Luke likes many things, films and penguins being among them. He's loved films since the age of 9, when STARGATE and BATMAN FOREVER changed the landscape of modern cinema as we know it. His love of film extends to all aspects of his life, with trips abroad being planned around film locations and only buying products featured in Will Smith movies. His favourite films include SEVEN SAMURAI, PASSION OF JOAN OF ARC, IN BRUGES, LONE STAR, GODZILLA, and a thousand others.
