Errr, so, Spike Lee’s OLDBOY didn’t even make $1 million over the long weekend in North America. This is despite big names such as Josh Brolin, Elizabeth Olsen, Sharito Copley and Samuel Jackson starring in the feature based on 2003s twisted revenge classic from Park Chan-wook. This was the worst film opening over the Thanksgiving weekend ever, taking an estimated $850,000. However, the movie has oddly not had a nationwide release. Even so, it’s almost unheard of for a film to not take in $1 million. How does that even happen?!?!
This just adds to the negative press the OLDBOY remake has received over the poster fiasco last week, that you can read about here.
Has anyone over in the US seen OLDBOY? Is the bad press deserved? Let us know as it arrives in the UK this Friday.
