After acquiring the film rights earlier this month, Summit Entertainment has made a couple of changes to the upcoming swords and sandals flick. The films title, originally billed as HERCULES: THE LEGEND BEGINS has now become THE LEGEND OF HERCULES. A meagre name change perhaps but it rolls nicely off the tongue. As well as this, the film’s release date which was originally stated as February 7th 2014, has now been moved up a month to January 10th 2014. This change is most likely to give the film some distance from Paul W.S. Anderson’s Greek disaster epic POMPEII, which is scheduled for February 21st 2014.
THE LEGEND OF HERCULES is directed by Renny Harlin and stars Kellan Lutz as the familiar half god who’s betrayed by his king and sold as a slave. Hercules has to use his superhuman strength to break free of his bonds and get back to the arms of Princess Hebe, who’s played by Gaia Weiss. Check out the trailer with its shiny new title below.
