Oscar-winner Christian Bale is looking as sleazy as ever in these new clips from David O. Russell’s upcoming crime caper AMERICAN HUSTLE. The star-studded production tells the story of con man Irving Rosenfeld (Bale), who is forced to work undercover with the FBI and pushed into the dangerous underworld of the Jersey Mafia alongside his mistress and grifting partner Sydney Prosser (played by Amy Adams).
The main cast includes Bradley Cooper as FBI agent Richie DiMaso, Jennifer Lawrence playing Rosenfelds wife Rosalyn and Jeremy Renner as the Mayor of Camden, New Jersey. All of who play pivotal parts in the film inspired by the 1980s political Abscam scandal. There is also strong support from the likes of Robert De Niro, Louis C.K. and Michael Peña.
It’s certainly not lacking for star power, but can it meet the high standard that’s been set for the Hollywood crime drama in the last few decades?
AMERICAN HUSTLE is set to be released on the 18th December in the US and the UK on the 1st January 2014
