MOULIN ROUGE! And THE GREAT GATSBY director Baz Luhrmann is set to direct a television miniseries of Stanley Kubrick’s developed but not produced NAPOLEON, with Steven Spielberg at the helm producing.
Kubrick researched the life of Napoleon extensively for two years and a film was well into pre-production before the studio cancelled it. The miniseries will be based on the 1961 screenplay.
Neither Luhrmann nor HBO have committed 100% to the project so don’t get too excited; we’ll bring you more details soon.
