A powerfully emotional trailer has arrived for Roadside Attractions harrowing true-story GIMME SHELTER.
Vanessa Hudgens stars as 16-year-old Agnes “Apple” Bailey, as she struggles for survival while carrying the hope of redemption through the harsh realities of life on the streets. After years of being passed from her drug-addicted mother (played by Rosario Dawson) into the United States care system (despite having a well-to-do Wall Street banker father) and back again, she finds herself as a pregnant teenager living on the rough streets until she finds salvation in a suburban shelter for homeless teens. She becomes determined for her unborn child not have an horrific childhood like her own.
The film, which could feature strongly in the upcoming awards season, is written and directed by Ronald Krauss and co-stars Brendan Fraser, James Earl Jones, Stephanie Szostak, Ann Dowd and Dascha Polanco. It hits US theatres from the 24th January 2014. No word on a UK date as yet.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
