The team up of Oscar-winning GOODFELLAS filmmaker Martin Scorsese and acclaimed Sopranos/Boardwalk Empire writer/creator Terence Winter surprisingly doesn’t offer us a epic gangster drama. Instead, they give us the darkly comic memoir of former high-flying stockbroker Jordan Belfort, aka THE WOLF OF WALL STREET. The Paramount Pictures production centres of the rising young financial wiz-turned-convicted criminal, whose hard partying lifestyle and drug abuse saw him taking too many risks in his profession. Ultimately landing him a long stint in prison for money laundering and security fraud in 1998.
The biopic is led by Scorsese’s muse Leonardo DiCaprio alongside an awesome supporting cast which includes Jonah Hill, Kyle Chandler, Matthew McConaughey, Jean Dujardin, Margot Robbie, Jon Bernthal and Rob Reiner.
Check out the first clip, television spot and posters from the film set for US cinemas from the 25th December and the UK 17th January 2014.
Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
