Hammer Films Scaring Up ‘The Abominable Snowman’ Remake

With British horror stable Hammer Films rejuvenated thanks to the monster success of THE WOMAN IN BLACK and the acclaimed remake LET ME IN, the studio have their eye on rebooting another of their past beastly creations. They already have sequel THE WOMAN IN BLACK: ANGEL OF DEATH and supernatural thriller THE QUIET ONES slated for 2014, but they’re also putting their best (Big)foot forward planning a contemporary reboot of THE ABOMINABLE SNOWMAN.

Of course, we’re not expecting a cuddly remake family classic HARRY & THE HENDERSON but the creature also known is Bigfoot or Yeti, is to be unleashed in a brand new bloodthirsty adventure written by Matthew Read and Jon Croker. One that will update Hammer’s own 1957 classic directed by Val Guest and starring the legendary Peter Cushing who leads an expedition on the Himalayas in search of a frosty mountain monster.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
