With THOR: THE DARK WORLD still smashing the box office worldwide, Marvel are no doubt overjoyed that Chris Hemsworth’s latest bout as the ‘God of Thunder’ is yet another success for the unstoppable studio. Now some interesting news has hit regarding the spectacular prologue set 5000 years prior to the film featuring Thor’s grandfather Bor fighting Malekith The Accursed (Christopher Eccleston) for the first time.
As it turns out, the sequence was created by special effects artist Tim Miller, who has been attached to make his directorial debut for 20th Century Fox’s DEADPOOL for over two years now. Impressively, the prologue was created using almost entirely computer generated imagery which shows Miller’s skill and that he could quite easily craft a visually interesting product for the eventual DEADPOOL film. Miller has contributed to three of Fox’s films previously having worked on the visual effects for X-MEN, X-MEN 2 and DAREDEVIL. Earlier this month we reported that both Miller and Ryan Reynolds, who is attached to star in the film, are still very keen on getting the project off the ground.
The character was portrayed by Reynolds once before in 2009’s lackluster X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE and the result was not well received by fans after the questionable artistic license taken with the character. With a script ready, star waiting and director twiddling his thumbs, it’s now up to Fox to greenlight the potentially awesome project. Lets hope that they see the great work Miller did on THOR: THE DARK WORLD and start to wonder what he can do with a whole film.
