We’ve previously reported that Colin Farrell was rumoured to have been offered one of the three main roles in Legendary’s action-packed film adaptation of role-playing game World Of Warcraft. Duncan Jones will direct the epic adventure, now simply titled WARCRAFT, and following a recent interview, Farrell was asked about the possibility of him joining up with the acclaimed filmmaker of MOON and SOURCE CODE:
“I read the script, if that’s any use to you, and it’s amazing. I sat with Duncan for a while and read the script, loved the script, and we was as cool as can be. I don’t know what’s happening with the film. I don’t know where they are in the process.”
In addition, the Irish actor best known for is roles in the likes of IN BRUGES, MIAMI VICE and S.W.A.T., claims he knows little about the source material or property, but is a fan of the director:
”The script was just really, really cool, and it’s just a world that I never explored — and it’s a really big and fantastical world. I can’t imagine what he, being as visually gifted as he is, Duncan, and what he did on Moon with, like, a dime, I can’t imagine what he’d do with this Warcraft.”
So, Farrell has indeed been approached but knowing little of the state of the production suggests he’s either keeping cards close to his chest or is no longer part of the project. For a film set to shoot in January, we think it could be the former.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
