HITCHCOCK director Sacha Gervasi will follow-up his acclaimed biopic of the celebrated filmmaker with an adaptation of the murder mystery novel NOVEMBER CRIMINALS by Sam Munson. Chloe Grace Moretz has previously been attached to the project and now we’ve news on a couple of additions joining her in the cast.
Rising newcomer Travis Trope will play a rebellious teenager (and best pal of Moretz’s character) who takes it upon himself to investigate the murder of a classmate in the story taking place in Washington D.C. Catherine Keener has also signed on as the mother of Moretz. The official book synopsis below gives a little more detail on the plot:
A dark and hilarious pot-infused novel of teenage maladjustment from a compelling new voice in American fiction.
For a high school senior Addison Schacht has a lot of preoccupations, like selling drugs to his classmates, getting into college, and his complicated relationship with his best friend (NOT his girlfriend) Digger. And he’s just added another to the list: the murder of his classmate Kevin Broadus, and his own obsessive plan to investigate the death. When presented with an essay question on his application to the University of Chicago–What are your best and worst qualities?–Addison finds himself provoked into giving his final, unapologetic say about all of the above and more, and the thrilling result is an unforgettable trip through the Washington, D.C. teenage underworld.
Gervasi rewrote the script originally adapted by EASTERN PROMISES’ Steven Knight.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
