After the fourth film in Tom Cruise’s action film series MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – GHOST PROTOCOL, revitalised the decade old franchise a fifth film from Paramount Pictures and Cruise was inevitable. When it was released in December 2011 the film went on to gross almost $700 million worldwide which is considerably more than any previous entry in the franchise.
A fifth MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE film was predictably announced soon after the previous entries phenomenal success with Cruise expressing his enthusiasm and excitement ever since. The star even began to scout out shooting locations for big scale action sequences earlier this year before JACK REACHER helmer Christopher McQuarrie was announced as the sequels director. Now MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 5 has been penciled in for a Christmas 2015 release date which puts it just one week after Disney’s gargantuan STAR WARS: EPISODE VII hits theaters.
Here’s hoping that IMF agents Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg and maybe even Ving Rhames will return for the film to join Tom Cruise’s Ethan Hunt in another globe trotting, high stakes spy adventure. As a massive fan of MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – GHOST PROTOCOL i’m looking forward to what Cruise and team bring us next to follow up what is in my opinion the best of the franchise. The film will be produced by J.J. Abrams (MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE III, SUPER 8) and Skydance Productions, check back with us for more updates on MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 5.
