A Host Of New Stills From ‘Doctor Who: The Day Of The Doctor’

For what I know about Doctor Who I could write on the back of a stamp. Since the series returned to the top of the BBC’s rating pile, I’ve seen one episode (although I wasn’t paying much attention to the plot). I just remember a gorgeous redhead (who I later learned was Karen Gillan) running around dressed a policewomen in a very short skirt! It’s the only memory I want or need from the sci-fi series. More then anything, I just wish writer Mark Gatiss would return to The League Of Gentlemen and forget all about sonic screwdrivers and Cybermen.

With the 50th anniversary almost upon us, a bunch of brand new stills have surfaced from the final episode to feature Matt Smith incarnation of the legendary Timelord. He’ll morph into the older Peter Capaldi who takes over the Tardis for the new series next year. These new images feature the returning David Tenant and Billie Piper, and some fella I can’t help but think looks like Pizza The Hut from SPACEBALLS. In fact I’m struggling to keep a straight face. Do all these monsters look this laughably bad throughout?

Doctor Who: The Day Of The Doctor airs on television and in cinemas on the 23rd November. Students (and anyone that should know better) should stay in and watch it on the telly. That’s what you pay a licence fee for. Don’t be silly enough to let the BBC milk you for more!

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
