The man-mountain that never seems to stop working has signed on for another promising project. Yes, Dwayne Johnson may have just completed work on swords n’ sandals epic HERCULES: THE THRACIAN WARS and swiftly moved on FAST & FURIOUS 7, yet the former wrestler-turned-acting icon has another film in the pipeline following the already announced SAN ANDREAS, SEAL TEAM 666 and THE FALL GUY.
Johnson has signed on to lead an adaptation Nick Schuyler’s harrowing best-selling novel NOT WITHOUT HOPE for Relativity Media. The book tells the true-life events during a 2009 fishing trip the author took with four of his friends (which included NFL star athletes Marquis Cooper and Corey Smith) to the Gulf of Mexico. Their relaxing vacation soon turned tragic when their boat capsized, stranding them at sea and fighting for survival.
There is currently no director attached but it shows Johnson is happy in dipping his toes into more personal projects, as well as the odd blockbuster.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
