The annual American Film Market is currently underway. It’s an event allowing a huge number of filmmakers and production companies to showcase their promising projects or ideas for funding and potential deals to be done. It’s brought news of one deal already signed and considering the huge success of James Wan’s THE CONJURING and INSIDIOUS franchise, it’s not hard to see why many are attempting to jump on the supernatural bandwagon.
STRAW DOGS beauty Kate Bosworth, the underrated Thomas Jane (THE MIST) and newcomer Jacob Trembley have signed on to star in ghostly chiller SOMNIA. The film will be co-written directed Mike Flanagan and has the following short synopsis:
Somnia is a haunting, emotionally absorbing horror film “about an orphaned child whose dreams – and nightmares – manifest physically as he sleeps. The film explores the enduring bonds between parent and child and is punctuated by sequences of intense, visceral terror that only a child’s imagination could conjure.
Production will begin next week on the 11th November.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
