Justin Lin, the director of four of the most popular movies in the FAST & FURIOUS series is to switch franchises for Universal Pictures. As James Wan takes over the ‘Fast’ movies with episode number seven, Lin will tackle the next film in the ‘Bourne’ series.
Deadline reports the news that the film will be a direct sequel to the Tony Gilroy helmed THE BOURNE LEGACY, which saw Jeremy Renner topline opposite Rachel Weisz. Anthony Peckham (INVICTUS, SHERLOCK HOLMES) will write the screenplay for the film with Renner returning to play the role of Aaron Cross.
Word on the street is that the film is being eyed for a summer 2015 debut, which is already looking quite packed, particularly for Universal who have two big sequels, JURASSIC WORLD and TED 2, scheduled for release already.
I personally wasn’t a huge fan of ‘Legacy,’ but many were, with the film making over $270 million across the world back in 2012.
